Faith

History

I absolutely love Psalm 107. I love the beginning and I really love the end. “Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the LORD.” Psalm 107:43. And I love the middle because the end wouldn’t be possible without the middle.

Psalm 107 starts with God being praised and the second verse is an invitation to join in the praise. “1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.2 Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.”

Verses three through thirty-two give examples/testimonies of what God had done for Israel. There are four main examples; the first two are God leading/delivering, the third is God healing, and the fourth is God bringing peace and calming the storm. Because of all these things the psalmist knew that throughout the ages people would be able to look at their history and see just how faithful our God is.

Throughout my own history I have seen God’s faithful love. Whether it’s been the way He provided a way for me and my family to move into a house here after over seven months of seven out of our family of eight living in my grandparents three bedroom house. And then also seeing Him take away the feeling of having been abandoned by Him during my time there and then replace that feeling with hope and expectancy.
I’ve seen it the time He showed me He was my defender when a manager was treating me badly and lying about me.

I saw His faithfulness when I had been looking for a different job for months , got interviews for practically every application but didn’t get a job. When I came to the point of surrendering the situation to Him and trusting that He would provide in His timing I got a job. But He didn’t stop there, before I had been at the job for a month I was asked to apply for an even better job. Within a week of interviewing I was asked by another person to apply and interview for a job better than the second one! It’s not because I am extraordinary, it’s because my God is. I have seen my history and I know my God is faithful!

Maybe you’re going through something right now, maybe you’re overwhelmed, and maybe it feels hard to trust God. Revelation 12:11 says “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony” Our enemy doesn’t want you to overcome and he sure doesn’t want you to remember what God has done before.

I might not have a testimony of being delivered from a pathway to jail but I do have a testimony of His faithfulness. You can see in my history the faithful love of the Lord.

What is your testimony? What is your history? Has God been faithful to you before? Guess what, He doesn’t change—He is still faithful!
“Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.” Psalm 107:2
